Grossman is key to Bears' lofty expectations

They definitely make it sound like it's going to be fine — everything does this time of the year — but the only problem is that the lead cook and bottle washer has been spending more time in the trainer's room than on the playing field.
For the third straight summer, I sat down with Rex Grossman, the Bears' lead cook, in the dining hall and left here impressed. He's not a woe-is-me kind of quarterback. He's a pretty confident fellow for someone with only eight NFL games to his resumé. When we spoke of Brett Favre, he's quick to point that he's 2-0 vs. the Packers, Chicago's season-opening opponent. He says it with a grin, though, knowing that Favre has basically owned the Bears since Grossman was in grammar school.
But what is more amazing as these Bears talk about their plans for a "Super Bowl or bust" season is the confidence that they have in Grossman. They believe in him as if he were a young Favre, that's how impressed they've been with his work ethic and his almost daily attendance at the team's Halas Hall in the off-season. But there's more.
