Coach Gruden Has High Expectations for TE Alex Smith

Stephen F. Holder, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden has high expectations for TE Alex Smith for the upcoming season. While Smith had a breakthrough rookie year in 2005, the team is expecting him to take his game to another level. "I'm not into how many balls did you catch," Gruden said. "We're going to ask our tight ends to block the Simeon Rices, the (Julius) Peppers, the (Mike) Ruckers, to pass protect. Running routes and catching balls is certainly part of it, and he can do all that stuff. But I want to see him be great. I consider him a talent, but we'll have to find out how much talent he has."
