The #1 Keepers: Running Back
Larry Johnson, Kansas City: Based on the numbers from his nine starts after Priest Holmes was lost for the season, Johnson would have recorded an NFL-record 2,893 scrimmage yards and 30 total touchdowns. That would have surpassed the current record of 2,429 scrimmage yards set by Marshall Faulk in 1999 ... by almost 500 yards.
The potential return of Holmes would hurt Johnson's value somewhat, but at this point there's no reason not to rank him as the league's best keeper at the position. He's durable, ultra-productive and runs behind one of the best offensive lines ever assembled. New head coach Herman Edwards will utilize Johnson as much as Dick Vermeil did, so expect him to produce enormous numbers.
